Go to the printer then to propertries setup to set page format and you
will see envelope
 and letter sizes.  Standard letter size is all the way to the left past
A4.  Use the left arrow and scroll to the left and you will see Standard
letter. That is the correct
 format for a 8.5 by 11 letter.  Everytime I printed I had to set it to
this letter size 
because it would not stay there after each printing.
