Update: Broken Downpipe
Thanks go to several listers for providing leads on mandrel bending exhaust
fabricators in the ME/NH/VT/MA region. (Bob D., Smitty, Huw, Peter S., Chris
M., Doyt E., Eric M., Stephen B. and Greg Herrmann (any relation to Craig H.
of Gloucester??))
I'll be looking into these sources later this summer when the Callaway comes
off the road for service. While the 2.2l is pulled to swap in a 2.3l motor,
a urq tranny, rear diff and new clutch will go in, and the ever damning
clutch master/firewall cracking problem will be repaired. I plan to have
another downpipe fabricated at that time.
In the meantime, a friend at the local Caterpillar dealership repaired the
original downpipe, so the Callaway will be up at the Mount Washington Hill
Climb this weekend. And quieter than it has been in several months...
Looking forward to see many of the quattro listers there, and to see some of
them race as well. Good luck Bob!
Later!
