My tire choice
Hi all,
A bunch of you wanted to know which tire I was gonna choose among the
Pirelli p600, Pirelli P6000 SV VR, or the Dunlop Sp4000 VR.
Well, the P600 was throughly reviled by all but 1 or 2 respondents. The
SP4000 was a study in boredom. Most of the responses were unexciting, with
a few bad and a few good. The SP6000 got quite a few high marks. Most
folks who got them liked them.
So I got the SP6000 SV VR.
Report:
Well, the tires I had on there were _really_ bad. You know, the former PO
tires, 2 matched, 2 unmatched, uneven wear, H rated plain wrap crap. They
screeched around every corner, shimmied after 80mph, rode like a tractor,
etc.
The P6000 SV VR's have cured all the ailments, and have made the car a joy
to drive. I can pound corners in third, great hold, no flex, nice
performing. The shimmy after 80 is gone, well into the 100's (Done of
course at the Los Angeles Salt Flats. Anyone heard of it? :-) ) And Mrs.
Lewis commented that the car rode very nicely. My wife is rather sensitive
to this stuff, so I know the ride quality isn't my $68 per tire imagination
running wild.
I've had them for about a week, and I really like them so far. I will give
more info as it is requested or it becomes available.
Thanks to all who helped with generous emails.
