That's a pretty broad and untrue generalization.

Many parts are interchangeable between variants based on the same basic
platform, like between various models of type 44 (80s 5000/100/200),
between type 81/85 (4000, coupe), etc.  But things get much less
interchangeable across platforms...  Even within the platform things may
get tricky depending on what item we're talking about.
