Fresh air to motor mount-question

I need to fabricate the small "holder" that attaches to the rt motor mount 
(87 5k cstq) and holds the fresh air tube (from the lower bumper grille) 
directed towards the mount. My question: does the air get directed to the 
lower (metal) part of the mount, or the upper (rubber) part of the mount?
