Re: ETKA
ETKA is a CD parts catalog of VW, AUDI, etc., Joe, with systems
schematics and parts numbers. It was developed for dealerships world wide
and, apparently, includes an internet-adjustable pricing program and
ordering network.
Someone in Europe made copies and they've been "spirited" to Q-list
members. Several folks made copies upon request and all were overwhelmed
with requests to the point they've all had to beg off after fulfilling
quite a few of the orders. Someone recently was trying to organize another
group "burn" (the term used for creating a copy), but I've seen nothing
about a followup. Today, someone else reported there have been changes
made for the CD's now being distributed to dealers, and the copies of the
copies some of us have may eventually be of little or no reference value
for parts. I really can't see them changing parts numbers just because
some of us have a way of looking up parts numbers other than asking a
dealer. I CAN see them dropping numbers for parts no longer available for
cars that have been out of production for a number of years. I've already
noticed a number of instances in the copy I have of parts
numbers/nomenclature being labled "unknown", probably because they're no
longer available (often referred to on the Q-list as being made of unobtanium).
