The first few 89 200tq's did not have an airbag.  All the ones with the
later MC engine (K24/MAC14 ECU) have them, and I _think_ most of the 
earlier ones don't.  Some do, however, as my first 200tq (w/K26 motor)
did.

Heat and humidity do seam to have quite an effect on these cars. 
However,
you should still see more than 1.2.  On a US spec car you should see
1.4.
More than likely not a major problem, though.  I would go so SJM's site
(www.teleport.com/~scottmo/) and do the _entire_ "ABC's of running high
boost" page.  It is under "trouble shooting tips" on the main page.  As
you will see, there are many (relatively minor) things that will reduce
boost.
As far as gas, you could use 90 octane if you leave your car stock, but
if
you chip (and you should! Also see SJM's site) you need 92+.
