Might be a bit of fun on someone's part. In German, "Audi 888" is
"Audi acht acht acht". Achten is a German verb meaning to pay attention
or respect something - you probably know its gerund "Achtung" from all
those war films. "Acht" in this context is the second person familiar
or command imperative of 'achten'.
So "Audi 888", when pronounced, is a pun: "Audi watch-watch-watch".
Maybe they're testing the new engine for Rolls Royces?
