RE: RE: Revisit 90Q Rear Brakes

I believe a Sealy cube is a 6 sided object that has two prongs at varying
locations on each of the faces to unscrew various rear brake calipers. My
former Isuzu 4x4 Pickup had rear discs, and I had to purchase one of these
to do my back brakes (which was a frequent operation). The cube has a
3/8" square hole in the center of each face for insertion of a extension
and a 3/8" socket. It is available at Autozone, Advance Auto, Pepboys, in
the specialty sections (If you are in the United States). Should be about
$10US.

The need to chop it in half must be due to inadequate clearence to fit the
cube into the caliper to where you can use it. Guess I'll figure this out
when I do my rear brakes on my 4KQ soon.

Before I discovered the brake caliper retracting cube, I just put a set of
pliers in the slots in the caliper, gripped real hard, and spun. Don't
think I ever mauled a seal, but it usually scratched up the piston and
generally caused severe hand pain from either getting pinched or cut when
the whole think slipped.
