Urquattro wheel$ & tire$
In my search for a more original combination thant the 17" BBS RSII/Goodyear
F1 for my Urquattro, I ordered a set of new Audi original 15x8 Ronals today
at close to USD 500 per wheel. There were 18 wheels in the global central
depot in Kassel in the pearl white finish, and probably a few more in the
zermatt silver colour left. I went for the pearl wheels, although my
original 15x8 wheels, having given snow tire status last fall, are of the
silver variety. This way the summer and winter wheels will look a little
different from each other... The silver wheels' list price was under USD
400 per wheel but carry a smaller dealer discount, leaving my cost within 30
bucks of each other.
I will install a set of Pirelli P Zero Assimetricos in size 225/50ZR15 on
the wheels, these being the only decent tire with good availability inthat
particular size in this country at this time. The Dunlop SP9000 (?) is
available now in a 215/50R15, but being a special order tire, I don't like
the thought of waiting for a replacement tire in case of a flat for two
months, nor do I want to wait until September to get them.
I haven't had Pirellis since the days of P7's way back when, so it will be
interesting to see how these work. For what they cost, they ought to grip
like velcro and last forever... Subjective evaluation to follow in about a
weeks time.
