That was an S8 -- a souped up A8 with uprated suspension and 340hp engine.

The regular A8 4.2q is no slouch at 300hp (the US Tiptronic version goes
0-60 in 6.9 seconds with an electronically-limited 130mph top speed),
but the Euro S8 with the 6-speed manual is something else (0-60 in 5.3,
quite within the supercar category).
