doorlatch is broken. easy fix. you can get them wholesale for around
$25-30..GET A GERMAN ONE! the Italian or otherwise ones are junk. and i
wouldnt bother with a used one, it'll just break the week after you put it on
(BTDT)
1) remove chrome trim insert from outside of doorhandle. (pry up carefully w/
tiny flathead screwdriver) remove screws under trim piece.
2) open door from inside and remove the oval shaped rubber plug inside the
edge of the door. this plug covers the 2 phillips screws that holt the latch
on. remove them (preferably w/ magnetic tipped phillips screwdriver so they
dont fall down inside the door)
3) latch will be loose. pull it away from the door. take tiny flathead and
pry the plastic snap covers off the 2 latch rods still holding the latch on.
(actuators?). these snap over a little ball on the latch. REMEMBER which is
which!!! mark them with a colored marker. one rod is for opening the door,
the other is to lock it.
then remove the small phillips screw, holding the cylinder in the lock.
remember how you do this, it needs to be put back the same way. remove the
little spring clip, and remember how its set on there. then the cylinder
should slide out. re-use your old cylinder. (unless you want to have a
different key for just your drivers door!)
reinstall the reverse of removal.
easy 5 minit job.
