Re: lada's

Listers Hi from Greece,

Global warming has to do a lot with carbon monoxides (and other monoxides
too) which are produced by internal combustion engines and more especially
those that do not produce a clean burn (as Lada engines)

I used to own a LADA 4X4 called the NIVA in the rest of the world, the
COSSACK in the UK and not sold in the US.
It was a very capable 4X4, able to go places that my ex-CAMEL TROPHY
Discovery 200Tdi is unable to reach because of excessive weight.
It had permanent 4 wheel drive with lockable central diff, independant front
suspension and a rigid back axle with Watt links and it handled really fine,
excelling off the road.

Only draw back was the engine which was not so efficient.
After a complete rebuild, balancing, losing some excessive weight from the
pistons, rods, crankshaft and flywheel and polishing the engine head, intake
and exhaust manifold and valves it was flying and the exhaust gases were
much cleaner.

Overall I was totally satisfied with the LADA and I would gladly own another
one provided that I take it apart and put it back with more attention to
detail.
It cost peanuts and had exceptional value and technology for its money at
the time I bought it (back in 1982)

As for the global warming, guys in Canada maybe be happy but
global warming means melting of the ices at the North Pole and the Antartic
which means the increase of the height of seas worldwide and my house is at
2 metres altitude from the level of the sea.

And the RS2 and my CAMEL do not float.

Sorry for bubbling

Regards from sunny Greece (36 degrees Celsius today)
Pantelis
