I've got some BTDT on this... cracked both of mine one winter 
morn when I accidentally triggered the headlight washers while 
sitting at a stop light.

IMHO, it's got nothing to do with Eurolights or DOTs, it's the 
bulbs you use. I was using 80/100 H4s at the time. Most people 
who upgrade to Euros also upgrade the wiring and run higher 
wattage bulbs, so that's why you see this phenomenon more with 
the Euros. Your warning should be to anyone running higher than 
standard wattage bulbs. 

I'm now running standard 55/60 H4s (but I didn't replace the 
StonGard because I'm lazy). The higher wattage low beams only 
served to reflect too much light back from signs--I'm perfectly 
happy with 55W lows. I might try 55/100 sometime, though.

I don't really miss the StonGard on the headlights, but it's an 
absolute _must_ for the fog lights on the CQ.
