Re: LT-1Q: IT'S ALIVE!!!!
After reading some of Bob's posts I thought it would be worthwhile to swing
by his place and check out the LT-1Q for myself. I was not disappointed!
When I arrived Bob had just finished changing the oil. He invited me to
jump into the driver's seat and turn his baby over. I proceeded to start
the car and then immediately shut it off because I was so startled...well
may be even scared! The LT-1 starts immediately as if you pushed a button
(I was not prepared for this). Moreover, it is not hooked up to an exhaust
yet so it is way LOUD. You can feel this engine in your chest as it just
sits there burbling! Bob estimates that it's going to have something like
400hp and 350 ft/lbs torque at 2500 rpm. This ain't no Audi V8. After
goofing around a little I then bought Bob as much sushi and Asahi as he
could handle...I'm hoping for some time behind the wheel some day;-).
Anyone remember that Speed Racer episode with the car that had such an
advanced design that no driver could handle it. The drivers would all
hallucinate and pass out before crashing. This is the image I have of the
LT-1Q!
As an aside, on our way to dinner Bob and I came across a BMW 740i Sport.
First time I've seen one of these bad boys. Nice car. Made us both wish
the LT-1Q was fully operational.
