Re: WIPERS WON'T PARK

Mine parked consistently half way up the windshield, that was a slipped
drive. Open the hood, remove the black, (brittle) plastic cover from just
in front of the windshield. I think you have to pull the wipers first. The
wiper drive is on the driver's side. It has a splined, tapered drive shaft
facing away from you, that's probably what slipped. It's just like the ones
the wipers are mounted on, same nut, harder to get to but you can do it.
Loosen the nut, adjust your wipers to desired parking position, tighten the
nut. I adjusted my wipers to just begin the upward stroke, so the blades
kind of straighten.

I had my whole wiper mechanism out and drive taken apart before realizing
this was the problem, a little too enthusiastic with my new old car. I
didn't see anything else that could've failed to cause that problem. A
failure of the internal electrical contactors maybe, but they're pretty
rugged and protected. I also pulled a lot of debris from the fresh air
intake while I was in there.

The wipers on my 91' Audi 100 are stuck in the "up" position. The wipers
work, but look silly being "up" all the time. Any suggestions on how to
get
them to "park" in their normal location.
