4.11 ring and pinion



Nort Northam - our local P-car resaler and racer (you may recognise the
name from Autoweek classifieds) is looking for a 4.11 ring and pinion
for the diff in his 924 racer (same diff as a 5K, I'm told). I believe
these came only in the 5K and 100q (non turbo quattros). Can anyone a)
confirm or deny, give years, applications, etc? b) Are the ring/pinions
the same in the 4K, 80, 90qs?
c) are there any other higher ratios avail?

He's got a darned nice 90 944 cabrio there w/61K for $19K, and an 88
944t club racer pumped up to 300hp with no AC, no radio, lowered, recaro
race seats, roll cage, etc, etc fer $16K. This is an evil beast...
street legal too.

We had a great car discourse, including trying to figure out the loss of
value on a loaded Turbo S he sold a few months back for $193K - it go
rear ended this weekend and the motor got shoved 6 inches forward. The
repair estimate is $40K - we estimated permanent loss of value at $50K.
USAA is expected to have a kitten...
