RE: '91 V8 seats for '89 200TQ

Mike:

Yes, those seats will fit just fine. THe tracks are identical. I put sport
seats from a '90 V8 in my '91 TQW with no problem. I even managed to do the
switch in the dark. You simply raise seat as high as it will go, remove the
plastic piece at the rear of the seat track on the outside of each seat
(there's a phillips head retaining screw that holds it), and pop off the
long plastic piece on the inside track (carefully), move the seat as far to
the back of the car as it will go, unbolt the two bolts at the front of the
seat tracks, tilt the seat toward the back, raising the cushion so you can
undo the 4 electrical connectors on the driver's side (3 on the passenger's
side), then get behind the seat and pull it back, off the tracks, and out of
the car.

THere should be two differences in those V8 seats which will represent an
improvement over what you have:

1. THere's a bolster adjustment/knob on the outside of those seatbacks that
you probably don't have on your seats.

2. The '91 V8 seats will sit about an inch lower than the earlier 200 seats,
so you'll have a bit more headroom.

HTH.
