Auto Trany Questions and Hot Rod TV
Again I was under the 80 today and noticed some fresh trany goo on the
087 transmission. I noticed that it is coming from the gasket from the
transmission pan. Also on the passenger side of the transmission there is a
circle with a rubber piece around it. The circle/cover is metal/black and
has some Audi/Vw parts #'s on it. What is that? That is also kind of
leaking, but very slowly. Auto trany fluid level is good, fluid on dipstick
looks yellowish clear, had the engine at operating temp, on level ground,
with wheels straight ahead. Should I replace the gasket?
Also was watching Hot Rod TV on a lazy Sunday and saw them take apart a
Camaro Auto trany. The fluid pan for the trany looked very similar to mine,
once they removed it I was able to see all the little channels for the
fluid. They also showed the gaskets and the ball bearings used for shift
control. Very similar to a 087 trany layout. They drilled three extra
holes to allow fluid to move more freely, what and where is that about?
Anyone know?
Thanks,
