1. Sounds standard to me...I pay $69 at a independant...but they _both_
drive oldish audis...87 5k fwd turbo 5-speed, and 88 quattro Avant 5
speed...and they encourage (well, tolerate) me under the car with them. If I
hang around to long, they put me to work.

2. Nope. I can see it on oil changes, coolant changes, and tires. Anything
else, they're just throwing out the garbage.

3. Nope...but they use (and charge for) aerosol brake cleaner by the
case-lot. $6.99 a can...:(...so I guess they do!
