RE: Stupid question re: paint vs powder coating
Rob,
Winter in Germany must start earlier than in the UK!!! Only kidding.
If I was going to do mine I would probably paint them with Hammerite, which comes up with hammered enamel finish. I have used it before on car parts and seems to last, also allegedly has some rust killing properties as well, don't know whether it works though. This paint may not be available in Germany but I guess you will have something similar, it's made by a UK company called Finnigan's whoa also make Waxoyl which is an anti rust spray to go into cavities and box sections. I too have '85 Coupe Q, mines Tornado Red.

Subject: Stupid question re: paint vs powder coating
Ok, winter is coming and my 85 Coupe Quattro (NOT an Ur-Q) is going under the
knife...
What is the list's concensus on painting vs. powder coating the suspension parts
like strut housings and control arms? Paint is cheaper, but will it last?
Just a question for the list.
Kind Regards
Rob in Germany
