Help on aircon please

Can anyone explain the function of the two wires connecting to the top of
the aircon tank ( the cylinder with the bubble window) please. 

This is to try and diagnose problems on a non Audi aircon, my Ur is just
hot!  Please reply direct as I am currently unsubscribed.
