Given that "most politicians are smooth liars" wouldn't it be preferable
to have a few that do something constructive once in a while?

and confining their cheating to personal matters would seem to be a plus
as well, since most of them are going to cheat someone...

(an optimistic cynical view. On something that probably doesn't even
belong on this list, but now I am to blame as well!)
