87 5kcstq ABS Problem- Help!
Some time ago, I posted a message describing an ABS problem with my 87
5kcstq . Specifically, the ABS warning light illuminates continuously.
Resetting things via a double-press of the ABS switch puts things right for
a minute at most. Q-List wisdom was faulty sensor, incorrect sensor
spacing, or failed ABS relay. None of these appear to be the problem. I
finally took my kemp to the local dealer to get a reading via the infamous
diagnostic box. Result: a bad ABS pump is indicated. Unfortunately, the
price of a replacement has nearly as many digits as my Social Security
number and the only four new pumps in the world appear to be in Germany.
Moreover, I can't find anybody who can remember one ever going bad.
Whataya think, guys? Should I start casting about for a used pump? What
about the computer? It at least has the virtue of being easy to try,
assuming a used one can be found at a reasonable price. I throw myself upon
the List's mercy. Help!
TIA,
Larry Mittell
