4kq VIN's

I've recently learned of a local weekly auction of impounded cars, and
I'm toying with the idea of getting a 4kq (if one comes up) that way.
(Buying at auction is a whole topic unto itself, and I'd want to do
more research, but that's another discussion). I swung by for an
advance list (which included VIN's) of cars to be auctioned. There was
a 5k being auctioned, but no indication of whether it was a Q.

The question: is there a way to tell a 4kq from a plain 4k by the VIN?
Or would running the VIN thru Carfax (which I'd want to do b4 bidding
anyway) give me this info? Thank you.
