Comments about aftermarket A/C condenser installation '89 90Q

Just installed an aftermarket A/C condenser from
BLAUfergnügen in my 1989 90Q.

Seems to work OK.

However, I did have one concern.

When installing the aftermarket unit, the bracket that
supports the hardline fitting that attaches across the top
of the coil is lost. There is real potential that, because
this pipe is no longer supported, something will crack from
long term vibration.

What I did was take a piece of dense plastic foam and cut a
block to fit between the coil and the pipe, with a small
amount of compression in the foam. Then I took a nylon
zip-tie and tied it to holes in the coil's frame, putting
slight compression in the plastic foam.

Now the pipe is supported with enough compliance that
stress is not put onto fittings when things move.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have questions.
