my experience in previous lives (too fast motorcycles) is that metallic pads are
noisy.  re: warpage, i have a mechanic who asserts that this happens on our cars
from hard braking to a stop and then standing on the pedal and holding the heat
at that location.... no idea as to the veracity of that claim...
