Audi cell phone model differences

I recently purchased an Audi cell phone that was installed in a co-worker's
'98 A4. I plugged the transceiver into the wiring harness in the trunk of my
'92 100, and the handset into the jack of the center console, and it worked
(lit up, etc). I checked Bentley for the phone wiring diagrams for my 100,
and the wiring diagrams on A4.org for the A4, and electronically, the two
phones are the same. But I noticed that the actual handset and transceiver
look different than the one made for the '92 model year. Did Audi replace
the earlier phone with the later one I have, or do they (Motorola) still
make both phones? I am hoping the latter since I will be needing a mounting
kit for this phone (for the handset in the center console, and the
transceiver in the trunk) . BTW, the phone I got included the upper handset
cradle (part that phone "clicks" into to hold it in place), so I at least
have that part. Any BTDT on phone installations also appreciated. TIA.
