I did this when i bought new tie rods a coupla years ago.  Trouble is, I
used inner tobe that was too tight, a PITA to move out of the way, and
wound up cutting it off.  Since then I glob antiseize all over the
adjusters when I'm in the area.  thinking of making splash sheilds out
of larger tube, rolled around to almost seal and zip tied.  again, lots
of antiseize as protectant.
