Affected Item: Rear Driveshaft
Condition: Ringing Noise
____________________________________________________________
There is a ringing /knocking noise from the center of this
car on hard acceleration and decceleration that appears to
be coming from the driveshaft. I can partialy hear it when
I raise the car and rotate the rear drive shaft back and
forth. This shaft has a center support bearing that appears
to be in good condition, well lubed. I am assuming that
this shaft has a double wall and I think the sound is
perhaps to do with a crack in a inner tube /wall or weld.
The local drive line service said the shaft is non
serviceable and suggested that there is a cardboard like
material inside the shaft that could be the cause . Is this
shaft or center support serviceable ? Has anyone had a
similar problem with this driveshaft ? Could it be
something other than the shaft that I have missed ? Thanks
