Re: Here it comes . . . Y2K
Oh dear. I guess the old "our computer made a mistake" will be
replaced with "our computer had a Y2K problem [and you can't
sue us, @#%$ #@*.]"
There should be 100s if not 1000s of customers of your bank with that same
mortgage setup ending in 2000. Why did none of them have this problem
before you? 2 explanations: they're not fixing anything, but hassle people
on a case-by-case basis. OR they made a specific mistake in entering
your mortgage setup years ago, but blaming 'Y2K' is easier (the very idea
that you should send all the money, just because the faulty calculation says
so, is a good indicator that they'd do the "the computer made us" dance
anytime.)
And just who would make a 2-digit year algorithm that does however check for
senseless dates _and then make a new year choice_ based upon that fact?
When you next talk to them, ask them how common this mortgage type,
due next year (or later!! same situation number-wise), is, and then ask how
many people had this kind of notice sent to them _since the beginning of the
year_ :-)
I'd leave a bank that so blatantly lies to you in such a matter...
