RE: ENRADD - Electronic Non Radar Device

Actually............

The tape sensor is the same as the everyday vehicle counter we see on the
road. If go over one and see a second a couple hundred feet ahead it might
be ENRADD.

The units (portable and stationary) that they use on the side or in the
road are very small - a bout the size of a Canadian Loonie (US Silver
Dollar). Portable units can be placed as and where needed on small
adjustable stands off to the side of a road.

The transmitter is a small box about the size and shape of a shoe box -
with a small cell phone type antenna. I think they have a range of about 5
miles or maybe it was 5 km - can't remember which.

In short the system is very hard to spot.

I do remember that it was not considered a viable alternative to radar on
large multi-lane highways where the Officers were placed 2-3km down the
road. Reason was lane switching, hard to prove which car was in violation
of traffics laws without some form of visual identification.

I have an article on it somewhere in my office - if I find it I'll scan it
a post it.

Don...

<<ENRADD
Electronic Non RADar Device>>

Which makes it an accurized, stationary version of VASCAR (as
speculated by George Selby. So, like laser, it's a fixed item that we have
to
learn to look for. Igor -- did you see anything suspicious on the side of
the
road?

Thanks for the post, at least now we have a clue. My highway patrol
buddies had not heard the term yet so I guess I'll call them back and give
them the update....

	Later.
