I believe this is the case.  Since the 90 deg. joint between the
torque wrench and the 2079 is rigid, you could replace the
wrench/adapter with a rectangular piece of steel of the same
dimensions.  Would it make any difference if you pulled one top edge
of the rectangle or pushed on the other?

This is what I figured out when I was torqueing some fittings using a
flare nut crows foot.  If I was wrong I'm sure I'll hear about it.
