Don,
  Loosen the Phillips behind the door latch, and remove the latch assembly
(it can take a bit of force from the forward edge).  The latch cable is
secured to the assembly with a small clip and hooks into the door latch.
Easy to remove.  Behind the latch assembly, you will find another Phillips.
Remove that, the two Phillips screws at the upper outer edges and unsnap all
the clips around the lower edges and you're home free.

anyone got any helpfull pointers on removing inner door panels.

i am trying to get at the power window regulator and cannot
get the inner door panel off.  i have determined that the 
window switch is not the problem.

the inside door release seems to be only thing stopping me
from getting panel off.   have taken the screw out behind
lever, but still cannot release the door panel.

apprec any help.
