I completely agree with Igor folks.  The _only_ reason I drove into the
intersection was it had just turned to red, and no one had entered the
intersection.  Also, the traffic waiting at the intersection was five cars
deep both way, so there was no chance of a guy doing 40mph hitting the green
light (then me).  It seemed then (as now) that it was my best option.  I
have generally always made excellent decisions under duress (thanks to the
USG and your tax dollars), and this one was no exception.  I generally make
wrong decisions when I have time to think about them, like some my posts to
this list...  :-)

BTW, this isn't a defense.  I was thinking about what Igor wrote, and I
didn't want someone to do what I had done just because it worked for me.
Different situations, different outcomes.  Take each situation as a new
situation, and let your conscience be your guide...
