BTW you are also exposing yourself to these fumes as well. Several years ago
BMW actually had a recall regarding this. Apparently there was a wrongful
death suit due to fumes entering the car from the trunk where the battery
is.

I have personally seen extensive damage to the under-seat area on a few
Audis.
