sounds like exactly what happened to me on my '84 5KS last year.  Turned out to be a bad connection underneath the fuel pump relay, as you suspect.  In my car, the frequency of these stalling attacks increased as time went on.  I ended up taking it in to a mechanic (when I should have diagnosed and fixed it with the help of the list) who fixed it so I can't give you any tips.  The Bentley tells how to access the connections on the underside of the fusebox, though, so shouldn't be that difficult.
