"Extrude-Hone" is a proprietary process whereby a heavy fluid with grit
imbedded in it is pumped back and forth inside the manifold. It naturally
removes metal at the places with the greatest restriction and reaches places
that are simply not possible with conventional porting. By switching to
finer grades of grit, it then polishes the surfaces, removing the surface
texture left by the casting process. There're only a few firms that offer
this service -- Extrude Hone being one of them, of course -- and it isn't
cheap ... figure $500 or more for an intake and exhaust manifold, assuming
they have the necessary jigs on hand. They can also do cylinder heads, turbo
housings, etc.
