Re: 91 200q pushing H20 out ofcoolant tank
Jerry,
My V6 '92 100S does the same exact thing. If I drive the car hard, I lose
coolant through the expansion cap. Normal driving does not cause the
problem. My car has been like this for about 1 year now, and I've had the
water pump (was on its way out anyway), thermostat and coolant reservoir cap
replaced. Nothing has stopped the problem. My radiator fans function
properly, so I know that is not the problem. I've posted this problem to the
list before, and I was told that the problem was either a bad head gasket or
a cracked head. I'm told this allows exhaust gases to get into the cooling
system and causes the buildup of pressure in the system. I had my head
gasket replaced about 20k ago (notorious valley pan leak on the early V6's),
so I hope this is not my problem again (or even worse, a cracked head). If
you get any private responses on this subject, please let me know. Thanks
and good luck.
