steering lock plate = Stupid!

Thanks for everyone that responded to my question about getting my steering
arm out. Now on to that Damn lock plate.

This has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever seen on any car! I mean
what kind of crap is this any way. A fine machine like an Audi and some
fucking plate that you have to bend with pliers or knock apart with a chisel
(I just used a Dremel tool and grounded the edges off).

Why not do some thing a little more civilized? Like use aircraft grade bolts
that are made for safety wire and a little locktite and a lock nut on the
center bolt. Does anyone out there see any real problem with this solution?
