200q door lock problem

just replaced my window motor in the
drivers side rear door.   now that it is all
back together i noticed that even though
the locking button goes up and down the
rear door does not lock.  even if i press
on the doors button it will not lock.

any ideas on what to do or look for
apprec.

ps only part left over was a odd shaped
piece of black rubber similiar to the foam
rubber that goes on the back of the door
release control.
