hmmm, bt struggled with that. all I can say is that everything bolts
straight up, then when doing the window to cable bolts, I kind of
preloaded the window assembly relative to the vertical track, twisting
it, top towards the rear of the car, bottom to front, then tightened the
bolts. Actually, it is more likely that the carrier on the cable is
what I "twisted", but you get the idea I hope.

then it was obedient. any other position I had the same problem, window
popping out at the top most alarmingly. I suspected wear and tear to be
what made mine not have a simple "center of everything" sweet spot.

btw are you doing a C or 4k? I would imagine them to be a bit different
to deal with, in that the C window slides rearwards as it goes up, the
4k looks a lot more vertical.>>>

I have fixed both a CGT and a 4k, and both had alignment problems before I
just replaced the whole assembly with a good one from the local recycling
center. I tried to rebuild the CGT one, but the parts were too messed up
for repair (wheels all stripped). I knew how easy a fix was, so I didn't
bother trying on the 4k. On both cars the window bolted up to the
replacement with no alignment problems, just ran them to the top before
final tightening. I would suspect that the track is messed up on yours, or
maybe the guides have loose rubber. Which window is it?, I know where a
80,000 mile 86 4k is (but the Front Pass window regulator is in mine,
along with all the switches.)
