All I seem to get with my 100/170s is melting fuses.

(Literally. They don't 'blow' - the plastic melts off them _very_
slowly. As long as I replace them every three or four months I
don't get any problems. I have some really spectacular-looking
warped fuses on the desk here.)

If you put a heavy-gauge auxiliary harness in, though, I'd suggest
adding some strain relief to reduce the lateral load on the connectors
at the back of the lights. I seem to be going through adjuster arms
at the rate of one every six months.
