RE: 087 Auto Trannie fluid change

Hi all

Got around to changing the fluid on my wife's 100 Avant (thanks to Mike Murphy on his mail on this) last weekend. Quite a surprise when cleaning the filter screen and the little pan that it sits in to find a reasonable amount of small metal particles, filter must be doing it's job. The car's only done 48000 miles but I don't think the fluid had ever been changed. Be interesting to see in a years time if there is any more metal on the filter. Only one concern and that was my dealer had given me the wrong pan gasket, so I re used the original one after cleaning it up, so far no leaks and fingers still crossed. I think this procedure is often missed by auto owners, but is crucial to long box life.

I now wonder what kind of state the oil in the box and diff of my Coupe Q is in. Anyone got any thoughts on what to replace with?
