Phil,

Thanks for the reply.

Long story, the motor is in my brother in laws car, he had it rebuilt about 20000 miles ago by DJS in Norwich. He had (allegedly) a new block, pistons etc and some head work stainless valves etc. The car was run in properly but now it uses a litre of oil every 300 to 400 miles. It's consumption is worse around town where you are on and off the throttle a lot. It looks like no 1 and 2 cylinders are the worst with oily plugs and carbon deposits on the piston tops. Needless to say it's now out of warranty and the people who built it are blaming it on over fueling / bore washing, which we don't think is quite right?

I will forward your reply on to him, his name is Nevil Hall and may well get in touch with you direct. I can't give you answer on the re build offer, maybe it's not as serious as we think, but something is not right, valve guides and oil seals maybe or glazed bores???????

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Iain

I'm just doing another one myself - MB001293. BR Motorsport have a good
specialist man. I know him by sight and I've chatted with him while he
was working - he seemed to know exactly what he was doing and be taking
care over it. When you put an I5 together, you're really hoping that
no one is going to have to take it apart again for at least a quarter
		of a million miles.

Roger Galvin and I are now slowly turning our hobby into a business and
we're taking bookings. We did Grieg Falconer's timing belt and brakes
last Saturday for GBP500 including parts - I think he got a _very_ good
deal. We have a lad from Barnsley coming down to have his exhaust
manifold replaced, which is a mammoth job - he's paying a grand all
		inclusive.

Why does the engine need rebuilding? Would you like me to do it?
