"New" wheels
Picked up a set of wheels in Ft. Washington today at a salvage yard from a
'90 100 Turbo. Size is 6Jx15, offset is 45 and 4x108 lug spacing! They bolt
right up to the hubs with no problem. $200 for all 4 and they are in nice
shape (nothing a little parts washer in a can won't fix.) As I was surveying
the front end, I noticed a split in the front strut rubber boot that rests
near the bottom of the spring. The front end feels fine, but Alan K. pointed
out to me last weeked at the clutch-a-thon that my rear springs and struts
are shot (rear sag 1.5 inches compared to front.) Do I have a good enough
excuse to upgrade the suspension. Again, ride is fine. I could also use
some suggestions for a good tire brand and model to put on the 6Jx15 wheels.
Size that I will shoot for will be 205/50R15 (to give proper clearance to tie
rod ends coming from the steering rack), looking for Traction A/Temp A tires.
Thanks in advance,
