Re: Boating with an S4

My CGT came with a hitch when I bought if from Bob Buff of CPA Motors in
11-91. It isn't the most impressive installation. There is actually a
piece of wood used as a spacer between a heavy metal plate and the inside
of the trunk well. (All of this was in place before CPA got the car).

Nevertheless, I've towed a lot with the car. First it was my '94 Polaris
SL650 personal watercraft. I once took 3 friends, a full trunk, and
towed the Polaris, from North Dallas to Possum Kingdom Lake (nw of Fort
Worth) in the middle of summer with the a/c on, using the cruise control.
 No problem.

Later, when I moved from Texas to Iowa, I towed a 5x8 enclosed U-haul
trailer filled with my original set of wheels/tires, about 30 house
plants, many of them in 12 to 15 inch pots, and various other deritrous,
not the least of which was my 7 ft tall by 3ft wide by 2ft deep
wood-frame, iguana cage, the iguana, my dog, and two cats. A thousand
miles over memorial day weekend. No problem.

Most recently, when I moved from Iowa to SC, I towed a 4x8 enclosed
U-haul filled with the same house plants (most of them anyway), the cage
(but no iguana), same dog, same cats, and various other
non-Allied-Van-Lines stuff. Another thousand miles, again with no
problem.

The V8q I just bought recently came with a Da-Lan hitch.
