RE: 86 4KCSQ suspension Parts

If you are at all mechanically inclined, I'm sure you can tackle the
project. If you have the manual, and some patience for those stubborn
seized bolts, you should have no problem. The only special tool I needed
was a gear puller for the tie rods. I used an air wrench for the strut
tops since I didn't have the proper tool.
I would recommend that you also replace all of your bushings. I replaced
all of my bushings, strut top bearings, struts, springs, tie rod ends, ball
joints, etc. The only things I didn't replace were the subframe bushings
and sway bar bushings. I should've replaced them while I was in there.
They are now shot, and I have to now tear everything apart again to
replace them.
I got everything from German Auto Parts and Restoration. They were very
helpful, reasonably priced, and let me know exactly what I needed. I have
also heard good things about Blau. I got H&R springs with Boge Turbo Gas
shocks. I was a little disappointed with the extremely harsh ride of the
Turbo Gas shocks, although they handle very well. The bad roads of PA tend
to jar you a bit. You may want to go with the Boge Pro Gas Shocks, or
maybe some Konis if your budget allows. Hope this helps.
