Advice needed : The T in the Q has eaten ! =>Debris in accordeonhose, - Any BTDTs to comment on usual enginedamage ?
Having the accordeonhose off for other reasons, i found lots of tiny nice
shiny metalpieces in the oil.
This unfotunate incident might have happened within the last 3-6 months,
wich is when i last have had the accordeonhose off.
The impeller is torn on the cold side inlet, defenitely a sign of
metal-metal impact - but it's also destroyed around the impeller axle
clearly indicating that this K26 has been eating something unhealthy for my
engine..
Maybe the unexplainable variations in performance, i've been having in the
past 12-18 months, could be caused by whatever was holding back the turbo.
Can anyone point me to a link, where i can see the cold inlet side of a K26,
just to give me an idea of exactly how much metal my engine has eaten ?
Don't recall having the puff-puff at startup anytime, allthough i've
specifically looked for it occasionally, so maybe the bearing isn't gone
(yet).
Rocking the impelleraxle while turning it, will result in what feels like
impact btw. impeller and housing.
Up-down play doesn't look to be more than 1-2mm, so maybe there still is
some debris inside the compresserhousing.
I do not want to start fixing the engine until i know what(else) is
destroyed, - because it might be more economical to go for a replacement
engine.
BUT, -
my engine is 182hp JY type with MAC06A, single knock, no cat.
It also has some kind of pure mechanical gadget, probably controlled by
unthrottled air, connecting the EM to the IM..
(probably some form of emission-control , and if anyone can clarify this -
please do..)
Made from '84-'87 for Swiss and Austria only.
So any non-JY replacement engine would probably demand ECU change maybe even
another Fuel-dist/pressure .....
ANY advice, experiences or whatever regarding this, will be greatly
appreciated.
