fuel pump revisted

All,
 I finally got around to removing the fuel pump from my '91 200q20vt. The
p/n is evidently a V8 part number - Audi # 441 906 091 a/b, Bosch # 580 464
991. The number I get from Carlsen for the correct pump is 8A0906091 G, I
don't know the Bosch number.
 My concern here is will the correct pump hook up or at sometime did someone
screw with this car and change things around (CPA). Anyone have an idea if
the two pumps have the same electrical and fuel connections? Porbably but
before I lay down money I' like to know. As a side note, when I reached into
the tank to get the pump it was not directly below the hole and it felt like
it wasn't attached to anything but just sitting at the bottom. Great
